ScoreChem is built track by track, and a track only opens when its study guides, practice questions, flashcards and mock tests are all ready. Today five tracks are open, and the newest is Cambridge AS & A Level Chemistry (9701). JEE Advanced, AP Chemistry and IB DP are still being built and show as coming soon.
Every open track has the same four things: chapter study guides, ten exam-style practice questions per chapter, flashcards, and mock tests with a report that shows you where your marks went. What changes from track to track is how the mock tests are built, so that is what this post covers.
CBSE Class 11 and CBSE Class 12
Both tracks follow the board paper pattern in sections A to E, squeezed into a shorter test so you can sit one in an evening. Each has a mini mock and a full paper, plus a chapter test for every unit: 9 units in Class 11 and 10 in Class 12. The multiple-choice section is marked by the computer. The written sections are marked by you against the marking scheme once your report opens, which is also how real board answers are judged: point by point.
NEET
NEET chemistry is one section of 45 questions in 60 minutes, split across physical, inorganic and organic chemistry the way the real paper is. There is a chapter test for each of the 20 NMC units and a full mock built fresh every time, so you do not see the same paper twice.
JEE Main
The JEE Main mock has 25 questions in 60 minutes: 20 multiple-choice questions and 5 numerical-answer questions, across the 20 NTA units. Numerical questions have no options to guess from, which is exactly the habit this section is built to train.
New today: AS & A Level
Cambridge chemistry is not one exam but five papers, and the mock tests follow them exactly:
- Paper 1: 40 multiple-choice questions, 40 marks, 1 hour 15 minutes, on AS topics 1 to 22
- Paper 2: structured questions, 60 marks, 1 hour 15 minutes, on AS topics 1 to 22
- Paper 3: advanced practical skills, 40 marks, 2 hours, with burette scales, apparatus and results tables
- Paper 4: A Level structured questions, 100 marks, 2 hours, on topics 23 to 37
- Paper 5: planning, analysis and evaluation, 30 marks, 1 hour 15 minutes
Papers 2 to 5 are written papers, so you mark yourself against the mark scheme, point by point, once your report opens. Every solution ends with an Exam trap line, the one mistake that costs marks on that question.
Many questions depend on a picture, so they come with it: structures, graphs, spectra and practical apparatus. Chapter tests and mixed practice cover topics 1 to 22 only, and every question in them is multiple-choice and marked by the computer. For written practice, take a paper.
Where should you start?
- Not sure where you stand? Take one chapter test in a chapter you have just finished. It takes under 40 minutes and the report shows what to fix.
- Close to your exam? Sit a full mock or a full paper under timed conditions, then spend more time on the report than on the paper.
- Short on time? The Countdown Study Planner now includes AS & A Level, and the Revision Trainer brings every flashcard back on the day you are about to forget it.
What it costs
Study guides and practice questions are free once you log in. Flashcards and mock tests have a free allowance each month, and every new account also gets 10 free days of unlimited use on all tracks, starting the first time you open a mock test or flashcard deck. After that, a pass gives unlimited use. CBSE, NEET and JEE Main share one pass, and AS & A Level has its own. The details are on the Pricing page.
If you find a mistake in a question or a solution, tell us in the comments below. A fix that helps you also helps everyone who sits that test after you.
