Privacy Policy
In short: we collect only what is needed to run your account, save your practice progress and process payments. We do not sell your data, and we never see your card or UPI details.
1. Who we are
ScoreChem.in is operated by ScoreChem.in ("we", "us"). We decide why and how your personal data is used, so we are the data fiduciary for the purposes of the DPDP Act. Contact: sanjiva.shankar@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
- Account data: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture as shared by Google. We never receive your Google password.
- Learning data: your practice answers, mock-test attempts, scores, time taken, flashcard progress and bookmarks, so that we can show your reports and improvement.
- Payment data: the plan you buy, the amount, the date and a payment reference from Razorpay. Card, UPI and bank details are entered on Razorpay's secure page and are never stored by us.
- Doubt form data: whatever you type into our doubt form, and the contact details you choose to give.
- Technical data: basic usage and device information (pages visited, browser type, approximate region) from privacy-friendly analytics, and security logs such as request counts used to stop scraping.
3. Why we use it
- To create and secure your account and let you log in.
- To unlock the practice and mock tests you are entitled to, and to save and report your progress.
- To process payments, send receipts and handle refund requests.
- To answer your doubts and support requests.
- To keep the Site secure, prevent scraping and misuse, and improve the content.
Our basis is your consent, given when you sign up, and the legitimate uses permitted by the Act, such as providing the service you asked for.
4. Who processes your data
We use trusted service providers who handle data only on our behalf:
- Supabase for login and for storing account and learning data.
- Google for optional Google sign-in and for the doubt form.
- Razorpay for payments.
- Hostinger for hosting the Site.
- Umami for cookie-free analytics.
These providers may store data on servers outside India. We do not sell your personal data or share it for advertising.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use a small amount of browser storage to keep you logged in and to remember your study progress on your device. Our analytics do not use tracking cookies and we show no third-party advertising.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account and learning data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we erase your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law, such as payment and tax records.
7. Your rights
You may ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or withdraw your consent, and you may nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf. Write to sanjiva.shankar@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Security
Data is sent over HTTPS and stored with row-level access rules so that you can read only your own records. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and will notify you and the Data Protection Board where the law requires us to after a breach.
9. Children
Many students are under 18. If you are under 18, please use ScoreChem with a parent or guardian's consent. We do not show targeted advertising or track children's behaviour.
10. Grievances
For any complaint about your data, write to sanjiva.shankar@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy". If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The date above shows the latest version, and we will point out material changes on the Site.
